ToTheBlankPage.com & Kinen

Posted by Deathcon7 - November 19th, 2009

I've finally got my act together. Despite large talk I've fallen into that rut again. The one where you make large claims, haphazardly proceed, and then decide things are no longer worth your effort two weeks in. I think I've matured past this. I've recently come to the realization that the Flash Community respects output, not just talk. I've also learned that as an individual, in order to grow, you have to push yourself through those projects that challenge you most. I have missed out on a lot because I chose to give up instead of strive with the lame excuse that, "It's just not important." That being said, I've dedicated myself to two long-term projects I'm very excited about: a writer's blog, and a fantasy franchise currently labeled Kinen.

ToTheBlankPage.com is a writer's blog I'm currently working on. So far I've contributed a couple poems, a bit of advice from personal experience, and a piece of flash fiction. It's very 20-somethings oriented as it mostly focuses on the anxieties we experience at this age; not yet an adult, no longer a child. I plan on making it very low key so that each post shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to get through. So far there's about 6 posts.

Kinen is a project that I've been working on with a good friend, Jay-B. His art and animation skill is top notch and his spirit is inscrutable. The project at this point is very positively charged and I suspect, this being the second or third attempt at doing so, this time should go very smoothly. Some of the story is done so hopefully we can get to development soon enough. We've got plans to turn this into a franchise so expect some teaser posts on ToTheBlankPage containing some background history.

For now, these are the only two project I'll be working on and the level of relevance between them should make it fairly simple to maintain. My plan, as always, is to become a forerunner in the flash community; the spiritual sibling of companies such as BioWare and Bethesda. I want to get people engrossed in the things I have a hand in producing and I feel that this project, with the veritable genious that Jay-B is, definitely has a strong chance of succeeding. Hopefully my next post can continue this optimism. Thanks for reading.
