AS3 and Its Ability To Inspire

Posted by Deathcon7 - July 27th, 2009

So it seems that, as a flash developer, I'm not quite as retarded as I thought I was; which is good news. I'm currently working on a slew of projects and while it's a bit overwhelming, I've been keeping the load down by taking occasional breaks to train up my character in EVE.

Currently, I'm working on a very sexy Hentai series. It'll feature 6 games in the series and a roster of 5 unique and challenging females. The art is highly unique and will definitely impress, both visually and sexually. While the game will reiterate a lot of contrite features, the series will strive to rework them and create an authenticate and homogeneous experience throughout the six games, culminating into a reliable, helpful guide for any social situation, most especially the social dynamics involved in meeting and courting (read: fucking) the beautiful women you only dare fantasize about.

Moving away from the adult sector, I'm also in the stages of planning a series of adventure-RPG games similar to the Castlevania series. This series will tell a very deep and involving fantasy story and develop mythos and chronology that will lend itself to a unique and engrossing series that will span not only video games, but other media as well. Details of this project will be kept under wraps given it's ambitious nature. When more solid plans are made, I'll be sure to let those interested know.

One subject, sore to some, I wanted to light upon is ActionScript 3.0. Many developers continue to attempt to make games using it's predecessor with mixed success. People need to realize that this is the natural progression of ActionScript as a language and rather than deny this, need to embrace the truth. I've realized that in doing so I've become not only a better programmer, but more productive. Where before this blog, and the ears (screens) of my associates, were full of false promises; I can now proudly say that what I'm working on will with time come to fruition. Let this serve as a message to anyone who is struggling as a developer. Embrace AS3, embrace the capabilities of CS3 and CS4, because in the end you'll find it makes you so much better. And whether by design or destiny, developing will become that much easier.

To become more efficient in programming and OOP you need to use AS3 when it comes to flash, end of story.

I agree that embracing these new developments is the way to go, but it's not that simple. Up until recently I couldn't wrap my head around AS3 because I just couldn't find any good tutorials. All of them assumed I was an AS2 guru or somehow had already learned the very basics. Sure, I could copy and paste code to make a bastardized half-assed game, but I wanted to learn how to really do it. Eventually I found a great tutorial that explained things to me in English, from the very beginning. I think you need to link to such a tutorial if you want your post to have an impact on those intimidated by AS3.

Here's the one that got me started and also taught me the value of Object Oriented Programming: <a href="http://www.actionscript.org/resources/articles/698/1/Make-your-own-reusable-classes-using-Flash-and-AS3/Page1.html">http://www.actionscript.org/resources /articles/698/1/Make-your-own-reusabl e-classes-using-Flash-and-AS3/Page1.h tml</a>
